Weekend Excursion in Kyoto, Japan

Mary Baldwin University students Alyssa Collins and Ashleigh Morgan spent their first weekend as exchange students in Japan visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto. This visit was followed by a boat ride on the Hori river.

As participants in the Japanese Studies Program (JSP) at Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts (DWLCA), Alyssa and Ash will have the opportunity to explore locations of historical and cultural significance during the weekends. When asked to comment on the experience, this is what Ash had to share:

“My experience at the Fushimi Inari shrine was a serene one. The site of the shrine is in this beautiful mountain containing wonderful flora and fauna. This location looks and feels like a piece of history frozen in time. I wish I could experience it for the first time all over again.”
