MBU Athletics x McCree Center: Transitioning to Life After Sports

Last month, I had the privilege of engaging with our student athletes on campus. As a former student athlete myself, I was thrilled to be among a motivated group of students with promising futures. While student athletes excel at managing their time and competing in their sport, effectively presenting oneself in the workforce can sometimes prove to be challenging.

One prevalent issue students face is effectively translating their skills onto their resumes. By scheduling a meeting with a Career Advisor, you can learn how to eloquently articulate and highlight your skills to potential employers. As a student athlete, you possess the following skills:

  1. Teamwork
  2. Time management and organizational skills
  3. Conflict resolution
  4. Leadership
  5. Communication
  6. Adaptability
  7. Collaboration

Connecting with us provides various advantages, such as receiving assistance with interview and application preparation, gaining access to mentorship opportunities, engaging in civic and global initiatives, establishing connections with potential employers, and receiving support in career planning and exploration.

Visit the McCree Center for Life Success for guidance in developing post-graduation plans, whether it involves entering the workforce immediately, pursuing graduate school, or contemplating a gap year.
