This course provides an overview of various forces that shape contemporary education and criminal justice in the US and int’l settings. Students will explore the relationship between education, criminal justice, culture, and society in the global context.
What will you learn by studying abroad in Cyprus?
- How to describe relationships between education and society both in the US and internationally in the
educational system of the Republic of Cyprus. - How to critically reflect on one’s own educational experiences, perspectives, and beliefs
- How to recognize and analyze various “high yield” and “best practice” strategies, including, but not
limited to, Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences, flexible grouping, student choice, KWL, higher level
thinking, summarizing, etc. - How to compare the U.S. education system to the international setting in the Republic of Cyprus
- How to provide insight and analyses of educational issues and challenges in both the US and the
Republic of Cyprus - How to develop an awareness of multiple cultural contexts related to education
- How to utilize first-person language in describing exceptional individuals
- How to provide an overall view of best practices in education that most appropriately address the needs
of all students, including exceptional individuals
