The McCree Center offers a variety of options for your organization to connect with our students for full-time positions, internships, postgraduate fellowships, and volunteer programs. With the mission of providing all Mary Baldwin students a foundation for career and life success, we create partnerships with companies, like yours, to ensure our students can apply their learning in the classroom to a work experience that fills your needs.

Mary Baldwin at a Glance

Founded in 1842, Mary Baldwin University has a proud legacy of innovating to best serve our students as the world changes. MBU is a small, coeducational university offering a range of degree programs from bachelor to doctoral. We serve a diverse student population on our main campus in historic Staunton, Virginia, Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences in nearby Fishersville, and MBU Online.

The McCree Center for Life Success offers a range of recruiting options for your organization to connect with our students through career fairs, job postings, in-person or virtual interviews, information sessions, and other events to promote your organization and opportunities. The Center for Life Success is a member of NACE – National Association of Colleges and Employers. We also abide by their Principles for Ethical Professional Practice  and expect recruiters to.


Mary Baldwin students are equipped with the skills, experience, confidence, and credentials to make lasting contributions in their careers and work in a variety of industries. With our online career service platform, Handshake, you have the ability to create an employer profile, post jobs and internship opportunities, track applicants, schedule on-campus interviews, and find your next intern or hire.

Frequently Asked Questions about Handshake (FAQs)

Handshake is MBU’s online career service platform for students and alumni.  As an employer, you will be able to post job/internship listings, register for career fairs, manage on-grounds interviewing, and much more!  

To create an employer account, begin by visiting app.joinhandshake.com and then selecting Sign up for an account.  You will then be guided through the registration process (make sure to select ‘Employer’ when prompted for the type of account you are creating).

Your company profile is an extremely significant tool because it gives you the opportunity to promote your company to prospective talent, build credibility, and highlight what makes your company unique. Learn how to create an effective profile for your company on Handshake by following the steps in the Handshake’s How To Guide.

To post a job via Handshake, you must have a confirmed user account connected to a company profile. Your company profile must also be approved by the schools you’ve requested to connect with. Please follow the steps in the Handshake’s How To Guide.
